谨言

The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

雅各书3章5-6节对于舌头的描述非常传神。

小小的一根舌头，也不是身体器官中很体面的部分，却集至善与至恶于一身。既能发出赞美，也能说出恶毒之语；既能鼓励人向上，也能丧人心志，使人颓废堕落；它既能祝福，也能诅咒；既能建设，也能摧毁。虽然只是小小的一根舌头，却没有人能“轻松自如”地驾驭它。但如果你任由它“随心所欲”，它必会为你带来灾祸。

所以，谨言真是一堂很难毕业的课，即便修炼了一辈子，也还要时时留心。但无论多困难，谨言始终是人生必修的一门课。
